Left Holding The Bag

Boomama tagged me with this little purse meme today, and since it's been a long, looong time since I've been tagged for anything, I was more than a little excited. I'm always up for using the camera to capture those moments that I will care about for years hours and hours to come. (rabbit trail - I'll tell my family about cute things the kids did, or big moments in their lives like school musicals and scoring soccer goals and they'll say, "Oh I hope you got pictures!" To which my usual reply is, "I forgot the camera again." And they're answer is usually something along the lines of "Oh, well at least you got those fabulous pictures of your pink dishwashing gloves!" Yup. Mother of the year. Any day now.) So in keeping with the theme of posting pictures that make the grandmas roll their eyes, I give you ... photos of my purse.

Purell is in the front pocket, although I'm not entirely sure why. I have a toddler that frequently follows up a meal of hair and lint from off the floor, with a short playtime in the toilet. With a gut that is clearly made of steel, germs are no match. I also keep a little notebook and pencil in there for taking really important notes, like Chick-fil-A orders so Ben can go get us dinner. It's also handy when you need to distract a writhing child trapped in a shopping cart who hasn't eaten for almost a full 10 minutes, and might be in the beginning stages of starvation.
My phone and Excedrin migraine medicine. And just an aside, filed under the category of "How blogging saved my life", while pulling this little bottle out to photograph it, I noticed it was completely empty. I'm not sure if you're aware, but migraine medicine is only effective if you actually have some available to use. So thanks to Boomama and her little meme, I've filled the blessed miracle pills back up. :D
The inside pocket holds my lip liner and glosses, and my eyebrow tweezers. I frequently tweeze my eyebrows in the car. I'm also the main driver of the car. I'll let you do the math.

Items that don't belong to me, but I am required in the bylaws of motherhood to have on my person at all times. Emergency diaper and wipes, and a blue froo froo hair thingy. I'm not sure how the blue froo froo hair thingy got into my purse, but the next time she's wearing blue, and needs more froo, I've got it covered.
My wallet, my planner, and a small bible.
Now lest you be tempted to think that I am Miss Godly Two Shoes because I carry my bible around, know that there is an ulterior motive for it's presence. While it's nice to have one on hand if I ever get a free, quiet moment snort, it has more to do with the fact that I wrestle three little girls out the door by myself every Sunday morning. This repeated scenario has caused me to forget quite a few essentials lately, including my bible. Two weeks ago I also neglected to apply my make-up. Not a drop of age concealing foundation, not a whit of eye revealing mascara. I avoided mirrors all morning that day, I can assure you. And I hesitate to tell you, but there have also been a couple of times when I've thought, "Did I put on deodorant this morning?" Don't worry though, by the time we sit down to eat lunch, I'm always able to determine the answer to that last one.
And these were all laying around the bottom of my purse. What's that red thing, you ask? Oh, well that's just a used band-aid that has been neatly folded up.

And on that lovely note, I bring the tour of my purse to a close.

I wanna tag three 'Gracers' for this little meme. Daneen, because I can only assume that if she found herself with 5 extra minutes, she would be able to pull all of the necessary materials out of her purse to create the perfect scrapbook to commemorate those 5 minutes. Marie, because I wonder if she's just as organized inside her purse as she is in every other area of her life. And Michelle, because the mother of twin two year old girls has got to have some good stuff goin' on in her bag.

And anyone else who wants to do this. Besides, you know you've been meaning to take some pictures of the purse to send out to the rest of the family. ;-)

All hail Boomama!
I think we've finally, slowly, raised you from bloggy death! I'm glad I'm not the only who forgets the camera on big occasions....I can't tell you how many times I've sent Brian back home!

I would love to see this on a t-shirt:

"I need more froo."

Hmmm, so is it true that purses gradually get larger and larger with each passing year?

You are as funny as ever Addie! I loved taking a peek in your purse. The other day I was in desperate need of some more "froo"... where were you then??

I can only imagine what would be in my purse if I had three little ones at home. When mine were this age, I didn't bother with a purse. I carried a big old straw beach bag everywhere I went.

Cute purse. I'm glad I'm not the only one carrying a leather purse.

Now this is a classic Addie post. And I agree - it's great to have you back!

I'm so glad you have that used band-aid. I'm sure it will come in handy at some point.
